All the arrangements were made to welcome Lord Krishna in Hastinapur. Dhritarashtra Mentioned to Vidura that, "on the arrival of Lord Krishna at the kingdom, I will provide sixteen golden chariots, eight massive war elephants, thousands of slaves and servants, eighteen thousand delicate blankets, coats from reindeer skins to Lord Krishna as royal gifts. Lord Krishna will have all the valuable gemstones those belong to me and Duryodhana." Along with that Dushasana's palace was rearranged and decorated to let Lord Krishna stay there as their guest.
After listening to all this Vidura recommended him that, being the exceptional king of Hastinapur, it was glorious for Dhritarashtra to make such instruction for welcoming Lord Krishna but on the other side it was not acceptable for the king to lure Lord Krishna by means of providing him all these gifts in order to make him stand by all the Kauravas. Vidura also referred to Dhritarashtra that, the splendid Lord Krishna would In no way be separated from his devotee Arjuna and the intention of Lord Krishna for coming Hastinapura was solely to create the peace settlement not for accepting any materials from Dhritarashtra.
Duryodhana was conscious of Lord Krishna being the supreme god and he deserved those royal items from the king of Hastinapur. However, he denied his father Dhritarashtra to provide all these items to Lord Krishna by saying that the disturbances with Pandavas had already begun and Krishna being the supporter of Pandavas would by no means take the side of Kauravas. Hearing all this in the courtroom of the king, Bhishma warned Duryodhana no longer to humiliate Lord Krishna and cautioned him to obey with Krishna's agreement only. After that Duryodhana foolishly contradicted by announcing that, "I will never let the Pandavas take my ancestor's property and I will soon take Lord Krishna in Prison."
After meeting with the seniors of Hastinapura, Lord Krishna went to Duryodhana's palace. Karna, Shakuni, Dushasana along with other Kaurava brothers were present there. They all greeted Lord Krishna there and Duryodhana invited lord for having meals there.
But Lord Krishna declined there by saying that, "I will always go with Righteousness,
You all have unnecessarily kept hatred feelings for your own pious Pandava brothers. Being a messenger, it would be proper for me to accept the food and honor only after completion of my desire." After turning down the offer, Lord Krishna then went to the palace of Vidura. Being a big devotee of Lord Krishna, Vidura worshiped him there and offered him food. Also Keeping in his mind about the ill will of Duryodhana, Vidura out of affection towards Lord Krishna, suggested him not to go for the peace talks with Kauravas there in the king's court of Hastinapura as it would by no means change the evil mind-set of Duryodhana.
