KING PRAHLADA PREFERRED JUSTICE OVER FAVOURING HIS SON

Conflicts between Virochana and Sudhanva over Superiority

Prahlada: the splendid devotee of Lord Vishnu, was the son of Demon King Hiranyakashipu and Kayadhu. Hiranyakashipu was the brother of Demon Hiranyaksha and Holika born to Kashyapa sage and Diti. Lord Vishnu took the avatar of 'Narasimha' and slayed the demon Hiranyakashipu for torturing his own pious son Prahlada on account of chanting Vishnu's name rather than his father's. Prahalada grew to be a saintly king. He had a son named Virochana. Here in my put up i will explain how did Prahlada took a wise decision against his own son.

Sudhanva was the son of Great Ascetic Angira. One day both Virochana and Sudhanva went to swayamvara of a stunning lady named Keshini. They both desired to marry her. Keshini was perplexed that time to pick out between the two. As Virochana was the mighty son of King Prahlada and Sudhanva was the pious Brahmin son of a Magnificent sage. She requested Virochana what if she had choosed the Brahmin instead of him?

Virochana stated her that, "My family is more prominent than that of the Brahmin's considering the fact that we are born from the Lord Brahma. Sage Kashyapa was the son of Marichi and Marichi was the mind born son of Brahma." Hence Virochana proudly cited that they had been superiors than the all the deities and Brahmins.

When Sudhanva reached near Virochana and Keshini, she politely provided him a seat and worshipped him there. Sudhanva denied to sit on the throne next to Virochana there. He said, "due to the fact that Virochana is a prince only, he do not deserve to sit on a same level with a Brahmin. A father with his son, two Brahmins, two old people, two basiyas, two sudras could sit next to each other. His father Prahlada has constantly worshiped me whilst sitting on the floor and being brought up in the kingdom Virochana has no understanding about all this manners."

Virochana decided to have a bet on the complete kingdom's gold, embellishes and cows and let a wise individual figure out who amongst each of them was superior. Sudhanva asked him to preserve all these substances with himself and put a bet on their very own lives instead. Sudhanva additionally recommended him to go to his father and let him decide. Virochana agreed to him.

They went near Prahlada and Virochana described his father about their bet. Seeing the Brahmin Sudhanva approaching there, king welcomed him politely and offered him one of his cows. But Sudhanva only wished to get the answer from King Prahlada.

King knew he had only one son Virochana and being a father it was hard for him to give the answer. However he at first asked Sudhanva what would happen if someone had taken a decision untruly.

Sudhanva stated him that, " any individual who lies to others would face punishments similar to a person who loses everything over gambling and to one who gets badly hurt after getting beaten. A king who gives wrong justice would face shortage of food and will suffer by way of his enemies. One who lies over gold, animals, lands and over female will go to hell. "

Prahlada being the righteous king advised his son Virochana that, Angira was godly over King Prahlada. Sudhanva being the son of the tremendous Angira, was no doubt superior to Virochana.

As a result of the bet, Sudhanva owned Virochana's life. King requested him to spare his son's life and give him back to the king. Sudhanva agreed to it on a condition that Virochana would wash the Brahmin's feet in the front of Keshini. Later Sudhanva married to Keshini.

Vidura had told this tale to the Hastinapur king Dritarastra for representing the proper justice of Prahlada as a king due to the fact that Dritarastra had taken decision in favour of his son Kauravas only.
