Bhishma kidnaps Three daughters of Kashi for Vichitravirya, Amba takes refuge of Lord Parashurama, Parashurama accepts defeat from his disciple Bhishma
Do you know that eight Vasus who had provided their physique components to Bhishma, had actually assisted Bhishma during his combat with Parashurama? Do you all understand that the courageous Parashurama who was once Bhishma's guru accepted his defeat from him?
Before the Mahabharata war, Bhishma Pitamaha; the son of Shantanu and Ganga and the supreme commander of Kauravas denied killing Pandavas and Sikhandi in the Mahabharat war. No doubt We can all apprehend the purpose of Bhisma behind not killing Pandavas as he cherished his grand nephews Pandavas and Kauravas equally and by no means wished them to fight with each other. When it came to Sikhandi; a female who later turned into a male born to Drupada king of Panchala. Duryodhana was curious to know the cause behind It. Let me take you to that tale,
In order to please his father Shantanu and his second spouse Satyavati, Bhishma had promised to never marry and not to emerge as the king of Hastinapur. After the death of his father, he crowned the elder son of Satyavati: Chitrangada as the king of Hastinapura. However, he died in a war with Gandharvas. After that Bhishma made Chitrangada's younger brother Vichitravirya the king of Hastinapur. Bhishma wished Vichitravirya to marry the three daughters of Kashi king named Amba, Ambika, and Ambalika. Therefore Bhishma went to the swayamvara of Kashi daughters, kidnapped all the three daughters from there and challenged all the warriors who had been already present in that swayamvara at that time. Bhishma then defeated all of them and surrendered the Amba, Ambika, and Ambalika to Satyavati.
When the marriage preparations for Vichitravirya started, Amba: the elder daughter of Kashi bashfully told Bhishma about the Salya king whom she had already nominated as her husband and without the knowledge of her father, Salya king had additionally chosen her to marry before the swayamvara. She requested wise and religious Bhishma to take the correct decision for her on the grounds that she knew Salya king would still be waiting for her. After consulting with ministers, Ritwijs, and priests, Bhishma allowed Amba to go to Salya king.
Then Amba went near Salya king and requested him to accept her as per his predecided marriage proposal. Salya king denied to make her his wife as Bhishma had forcefully abducted her and as per him, she belonged to Bhishma only. Despite seeing the truthfulness and sincere request of Amba, Salya king deserted her having fear towards Bhishma. Amba was disgraced. Out of embarrassment, She couldn't go back to her father or to Hastinapura. She blamed herself, Bhishma, Salya king, her father, and her fate. She then held Bhishma responsible for her situation and determined to take revenge from him via killing him. However, she knew no king could kill the incredible warrior Bhishma.
She then went to the hermitage of a spiritual Ascetic, the place many Brahmins also committed to defending her after listening to the whole thing from Amba. During those days one Ascetic named Hotravahana reached the hermitage, who used to be the grandfather of Amba. After knowing about the miserable situation of Amba, he consoled her and recommended her to take the refuge of great Lord Parashuram, who was a friend and a wellwisher of Hotravahana.
That time the favorite disciple of Lord Parashurama: Akrutarvarna appeared there and heard the whole lot about Amba from the sage Hotravahana. Akrutarvarna asked Amba, "out of Bhishma and Salya king from whom you would desire to take revenge?" Amba asked him to take the justified decision on behalf of her. Akrutarvarna cautioned her to avenge Bhishma only by explaining if Bhishma had not kidnapped Amba from her swayamvara, then Salya king would have courteously accepted her as his wife. Amba agreed.
The next day Parashurama appeared there. Everyone provided their prayers to him. As per Hotravahana's recommendation, Amba took the shelter of Lord Parshuram and pleaded to him to save her from her immense sorrow by way of killing Bhishma. Being a Brahmin Parashurama had promised earlier only to raise his weapon parshu in opposition to Kshatriyas after taking permission from Brahmins for the purpose of their well-being. He knew that both Salya and Bhishma would obey him. Saddened Amba insisted Parashurama fight with Bhishma. Akrutarvarna also agreed to it and suggested his guru no longer abandon Amba who had requested him for help and let either Bhishma accept his defeat or obey his guru's order.
Parashurama alongside Amba and different sages went to Hastinapura Questioned Bhishma, "being a celibate how could you abduct Amba and later leave her, how could you assume Salya king to accept Amba after she was once touched by you? You have to marry Amba and no longer to humiliate her in such a way." Bhishma could never accept her considering the fact that he used to be celibate and also he declined Amba's proposal for Vichitravirya due to the fact that Amba had already told Bhishma related to her desire for Salya king for which reason Bhishma had let her go.
Seeing his disciple Bhishma being defiance to his order, Parashurama was furious. Bhishma tried to make him calm down by pronouncing he could by no means hit his nonsecular Brahmin. Later Bhishma told him, "if a religious Brahmin desire to battle with rage instead of running away, then a Kshatriya will definitely battle back and the Kshatriya then will not be responsible for Brahma hatya in such a scenario."
Ganga appeared there and requested her son not to fight with Lord Parashurama who used to be his guru and comparable to Lord Mahadeva. She additionally requested forgiveness from lord Parashurama however he counseled her to change Bhishma's decision instead. Bhishma did not pay attention to her mother at that time. Then they both had a big fight.
During the night time of the third day, Bhishma used to be in deep thinking that there was no way to quit this damaging war and defeat his guru. Bhishma while recalling Deities slept on his chariot and was fell down from the same. That time Eight similar-looking Brahmins reached there and consoled him via announcing no longer to be frightened. then they all appeared in Bhishma's dream and gave him their introductions. They were the eight Vasus from whom Bhishma had his form. They advised him to use 'praswapa' weapon against Parashurama as his guru was not aware of how to use and to defend from the same. No normal guys could use the weapon.
On the fourth day of the war, the battle continued. Both of them used the divine weapons against each other and made absolutely everyone on the earth as well as in the heaven afflicted. Bhishma recalled the weapon 'Praswapa' and was about to shoot it against Parashuram. Narada reached there and referred to him that the deities of heaven requested Bhishma to quit the usage of that weapon against his incredible Brahmin guru. Bhishma that time looked up in the sky and saw those eight Vasus smiling there. They advised him to obey Narada and no longer to use the weapon for the welfare of the entire universe. Parashurama accepted the defeat thereby announcing Bhishma had triumphed over him. The ancestors also appeared there and cautioned Parashurama not to fight with Kshatriya from next time and additionally advised him that, Parashurama was fortunate to be alive by that time even after warfare with Bhishma: who used to be one of the Vasus. They noted Parashurama that Bhishma was already destined to be lifeless through the hands of Arjuna only.
Parashurama however was not stepping back from the fight for the reason that he used to be following Kshatriya principles. His ancestors then requested Bhishma to do so. He also did no longer pull back. In the end, Ganga made Parashurama give up the fight by way of saying, "both Bhishma and Parashurama are uncontrollable and rebelling to each other."
Then the whole ancestors additionally let Parashurama put down his weapon. Being obliged to the Vasus Bhishma also offered his prayers to Parashuram. Pleased on Bhishma, Parashurama advised Amba that Bhishma had won the fight.
